Cake Care:

How to have your cake and eat it too

Transportation

Your cake is safest on the flattest surface (no car seats), this usually means the floor of your vehicle. Remember to blast the AC if it’s hot.

 Refrigeration

While your cake is perfectly shelf stable, refrigeration helps maintain the structural integrity of the buttercream. However, cakes are best enjoyed at room temperature. Remove the cake from the fridge 1-2 hours prior to serving depending on the season.

 Serving

Use a sharp knife. For optimal results dip the knife in hot water and wipe with a clean towel between slices.

If you have a tall or tiered cake: Slice the top, remove the cake board and support dowels, then proceed with cutting the bottom tier.

 Leftovers

Cover exposed cake tightly with plastic wrap to prevent moisture loss. Cake will keep for 3-4 days.

To freeze: For best results, cut the cake into slices. Place the slices on a parchment lined sheet pan and allow to freeze individually. Once frozen, you can then layer them with parchment in between and seal in either an airtight container or zip-top bag.
